Fit Scan is a concept for the SKIMS mobile app built around two things a browser can't do. A body scan estimates bust, waist and hips from two photos and saves them as a Fit Profile. A second feature, Scan My Look, reads a garment the shopper already owns and finds the SKIMS pieces that work under or with it. These features allow customers to quickly and effectively find the exact size and style they need.

The Core Problem
Shopping online shouldn't feel like guessing.
Finding the right size often requires charts, reviews, and crossed fingers. Finding the right shapewear for an outfit adds another layer of uncertainty.
I explored how the SKIMS app could remove both - creating an experience that understands the customer before recommending what to buy.
Concept #1: Find My Size
Your best fit. In about a minute.
Customers take two guided photos to estimate their dimensions. The experience creates a reusable Fit Profile, then recommends the right size based on the product, fabric, and preferred fit.

The scanning features become the reason to download the app.
Everything else in a retail app already works in a browser. A body scan does not — it needs the native camera, and it leaves behind a profile that only exists inside the app. That is the trade the shopper is being offered, and the flow is built to make it obvious in under a minute.
Concept #2: Scan My Look
Photograph the clothing. Find out what goes well with it.
Customers photograph or upload an outfit, then choose whether to complete the look or find similar styles. The app reads silhouette, fabric, color, and coverage to surface more relevant pieces.
The right piece for the whole look.
For a fitted, low-back satin dress, the experience prioritizes discreet support, a compatible neckline, and lightweight pieces that won't disrupt the silhouette.
Each recommendation explains why it works, turning product discovery into styling guidance.
Style finds the piece. Fit finds the size.
The current app has the same features a web browser can access. The app remembers each customer’s Fit Profile, uses the camera as a shopping tool, and makes future recommendations more relevant.
Scan My Look identifies what works with the customer's outfit. Find My Size recommends the size once they choose a product. Together, the features move naturally from inspiration to confidence to checkout.
